Blood ? function of Blood?

Blood is special kind of tissues which circulates in fluid form in the body. It transport different substances in our body. It is composed of fluid part plasmaand cellular part, the corpus

Plasma:

In man about 55% of the blood consist of fluid part called plasma it is colour-less and consists of water (90%), protein (7-8%), glucose amino acids, salts, enzymes harmones, wastes, gases etc.

Corpuscles or blood cells are two types.Besides these corpuscles, blood contains fragments of larger cell. These fragments are termed as platelets.

RED Blood CORPUSCLES (RBC):

Red blood corpuscles in mammals are circular, disc-like biconcave cells. Their mature RBCs donot have nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic, reticulum and golgi bodiesm the mature RBCs is bag of hemoglobin. since hemoglobin transport oxygen qnd carbon dioxide it is called respiratory pigment it readily combines with oxygen in lungs and transport it to all the tissues of the body. Deficiency of hemoglobin shows down the metabolic activities.

White BLOOD CORPUSCLES (W.B.C):

WBCs in mammals are colour-less, irregular in shape, nucleated and larger than RBCs. WBCs are commonly known as "police of the body" because they protect the body by killing the germs that somehow enter the body. They have ability to differentiate between their own body cells and the foreign cells.

FUNCTIONS OF BLOOD

1. Transport of gasses to the tissues and form the tissues.

2. Defends the body by killing the germ, which somehow enter the body.

3. Transport of nutrients from the gut to all parts of the body.

4. Transport of nitrogenous wastes from tissues to excretory organs.

5. Transport of Harmon's from the endocrine glands to their target organs.

6. Maintenance of uniform body temperature.

7. Makes a clot by itself to stop the bleeding.
